WHAT IS MICRO CONCRETE? ITS APPLICATION, BENEFITS AND LIMITATIONS.

Micro concrete is supplied as ready to use form as dry powder form which required only water to use at site. It produce a free flowing and non shrink micro concrete for such a repairing purposes. This is a cementitious material, with additives, which impart controlled expansions characteristics in the plastic state while minimizing the demand of water.

Micro Concrete, Grade Standard: ASTM, Rs 12 /kilogram, Flaminco ...

This is special designed for repairing works of damaged reinforced concrete elements particularly, Where areas are restricted and where vibration of casting material is not comfortable or difficult to provide.

Areas of Application for Micro concrete
1. It is used to repair damaged concrete elements like slab, column, beam etc. where only tiny thickness of concrete is required and compaction is not reliable.
2. For retro-fitting and jacketing works of repairing. Where columns and beams need to strengthen for increasing its load bearing capacity.

Method of application of micro-concrete
1. Clean the surface and remove loose concrete and other impurities such as dust, oil, debris or grease etc.
2. Clean the corrode surface of steel to remove all scale and corrosion deposits.
3. Apply zinc primer over the corrode rebars and allow to dry for further process.
4. Mix the dry powder of Micro concrete with water.
5. Mix it thoroughly to achieve a homogeneous concrete.
6. Pour or pumped the mixed concrete into water tight shuttering in the repaired area.
7. Cure it for the minimum 7 days period.

Benefits of  Micro-concrete
1. It can be applied at 100 mm thickness at one stock.
2. It imparts excellent resistance to moisture ingress.
3. It strengthen elements with less volume required.
4. It makes repaired element highly durable.
5. Its rapid strength gaining property suitable for early reinstatement.
6. It contains no chloride admixtures.
7. It develops high initial and ultimate final strength.
8. Its flow ability is excellent hence does not required any kind of compaction.

Limitations of Micro concrete
1. Micro concrete can be applied in section up to only 100 mm deep.
2. For thickness more than 100 mm, Some aggregates may be required.
3. Shuttering should be 100 % water tight to prevent concrete loss.
4. Ensure full exposure of reinforcement steel.
