CHECKLIST FOR ALUMINIUM SLIDING WINDOW


Aluminium window is one of the most general choice in house which gives good aesthetic values. If it is not installed correctly then it spoils the looks of building and work of execution quality.

Checklist is a important record it helps us in order to get work done correctly and it ensure we do not miss any point to check which is important from aspect of Quality of work.


Checklist of Aluminium Sliding Window Works consist following important points.

Procedures to be followed before fixing

1. Material checked as specified (variation in wt. not more than +/-10%)
2. Check necessary drawings which showing details of AC ,exhaust fan, mosquito net location.
3. Plaster work and framing work should be completed.
4. Window frame sill should given outward slop.


Procedures to be followed during fixing

1. Horizontal and vertical members joined at 45ยบ and joint kept hairline
2. Tracks checked for numbers and defects
3. Distance of frame from corner of jambs checked (before fixing)
4. Holes drilled in bottom member for fixing screws as specified ( for reference; approximately 300mmc/c for bottom and for sides / top members at 450 mmc/c )
5. Shutters checked for sizes, straightness, diagonal distances and plumb (shutter should be exactly rectangle or square)
6. Anodizing/ Powder coating checked for color, thickness and scratches
7. PVC gasket, Wool pile packing checked for air tightness after fixing
8. Glass shade and thickness as per specification
9. Glass sizes checked and roller bearings fixed as specified (min.2 bearings per shutter)
10. Hardware fittings such as locks, handles, screws, pivots of approved make(as specified)
11. Drain holes minimum 2 nos. per shutter at the bottom track for easy draining of water outside



Procedures to be followed after fixing of aluminium windows

1. Aluminium sections covered with masking tape after installation
2. Gaps between sections and plaster(externally ) filled with sealant of matching color
3. Gaps between sections and plaster(internally) filled with putty (or recommended material)
4. Window frame bottom cleaned with air blower
5. Shutters after closing checked for air tightness (smooth operation without rattling noise)
6. Bottom track checked for proper draining of water
